30th November: Lewis: 30 Wood Pigeons feeding on Beech mast in the Castle Grounds today. North Uist: 10 Common Scoter, 16 Slavonian Grebes, 57 Great Northern Divers and 14 Red-throated Divers around Berneray today. A Coot was on Loch Bhrusda and 700 Barnacle Geese were in the area. Around 700 Barnacle Geese were also on Pabbay today. South Uist: A Chiffchaff is still in South Glendale. Marine Sightings: A Porpoise was to the south-east of Berneray today.
29th November: Benbecula: 8 White-fronted Geese were on Loch Mor this afternoon. South Uist: A Chiffchaff and male Blackcap are in South Glendale. 28th November: South Uist: A Fieldfare was at Grogarry this morning. A male Blackcap is in South Glendale. 27th November: Lewis: A male Hen Harrier was seen between Brue and Arnol today. South Uist: Either a 1st winter Iceland / Glaucous Gull was off the tip of Ardvule with around 50 Kittiwakes this afternoon. 26th November: Lewis: 15 Goldfinch now at Anderson Road Nursery after one was taken by a Sparrowhawk today. South Uist: A Little Egret was at Eochar before moving on to the junction for Hebridean Jewellery. 25th November: Lewis: A Brambling was in the Castle Grounds today and 16 Goldfinch were still at the Anderson Road Nursery. Benbecula: A Little Egret was on Loch Mor this afternoon. North Uist: A Little Egret was on a small loch opposite Kilmuir Church this morning. 24th November: Lewis: 2 x 1st winter Iceland Gulls and around 20 Snow Buntings are in Ness. A male Goosander is in Shader bay. 2 male and 1 female Goosander were at Soval today. A Wood Pigeon was at Cuchie. 12 Goldfinches were in the Castle Grounds and 16 were at Anderson Road Nurseries. 23rd November: South Uist: 2 Chiffchaffs are at North Loch Eynort and 1 is still in South Glendale. 22nd November: Lewis: 6 Long-tailed Tits and a Chiffchaff were in the Castle Grounds, near Marybank. A Chiffchaff is at Arnol. 550 Golden Plover are at Barvas and 26 Twite are at Loch Ordais. Harris: A male Blackcap is in Northton. 20th November: South Uist: A Chiffchaff is still in South Glendale. 6 Whooper Swans flew south over Drimsdale at first light.
19th November: Benbecula: A Little Egret flew south-eastwards passed Creagorry co-op this morning. A male Scaup and 13 Shoveler are on Coot Loch. A female Scaup was on the sea off Balivanich today. 18th November: North Uist: 20 Whooper Swans are on Loch Sandary and a Snow Bunting was on the machair at Balemore. There is a Brent Goose of indeterminate race on Berneray with Barnacle Geese. South Uist: 38 Whooper Swans flew south over Drimsdale this afternoon. 17th November: North Uist: A Chiffchaff was seen at Loch Euport and 15 Snow Buntings near Oban nam Fiadh. Benbecula: A male Scaup is on Coot Loch. South Uist: 14 Whooper Swans flew south over Drimsdale this afternoon and 16 Snow Buntings are on the machair there. 16th November: Lewis: A juvenile Iceland Gull is at Stornoway landfill site. 2 Pink-footed Geese also flew north over Stornoway. South Uist: 33 White-fronted Geese south over Drimsdale machair this afternoon and a Pink-footed Goose with the Greylags there. A Chiffchaff is at South Glendale today. 15th November: Lewis: In the Castle Grounds, Stornoway today there were 4 Long-tailed Tits at the Sawmill; 6 Siskin at the main entrance and 50 Wood Pigeons at the castle. 16 redpolls and 14 Fieldfare were also around Marybank Lodge. North Uist: A Little Egret was on Loch Grogarry and 3 Black-tailed Godwits are still at Aird an Runair. 14 Snow Buntings are on Baleshare. South Uist: 40 - 50 Snow Buntings and 12 White-fronted Geese at Kilpheder. A Chiffchaff and 2 male Blackcaps are at North Loch Eynort. A Chiffchaff is at Kinloch B&B, Grogarry. 14th November: Lewis: An adult Great Northern Diver was taken into care after being found on the road at Braighe. North Uist: A Chiffchaff and 5 Woodcock at Knockquein. South Uist: 2 Woodcock and 2 Chiffchaff in South Glendale today.
13th November: Harris: A very last Swallow was reported from Northton. South Uist: A 1st w male Scaup is on Loch Rog. 3 Chiffchaffs are at Kinloch B&B, Grogarry and a Woodcock is in Druidibeg plantation. 17 Whooper Swans are on Loch an Daill. 11th November: North Uist: 2 juvenile / 1st winter Glaucous Gulls were on the shore at Balemore, 24 Snow Buntings were on the machair here and a Wood Pigeon flew over. A Water Rail was reported from Grimsay. Benbecula: A Little Egret was on the South Ford at Creagorry. South Uist: 2 Chiffchaff and a Blackcap were at Loch Eynort. A Chiffchaff and Blackcap were also at South Glendale.
10th November: North Uist: A Jack Snipe was at Balemore and 22 Whooper Swans were on Loch Sandary. A Black Redstart was reported from Baleshare at 09:15 and 16:25 today. A Chiffchaff was at Balranald and a Black-tailed Godwit on Loch nam Feithean. Benbecula: 5 Brent Geese are on Loch Mor. South Uist: A Yellow-browed Warbler and 3 Chiffchaffs are at South Glendale. A Chiffchaff, male Blackcap and Brambling are at North Loch Eynort. A Wood Pigeon flew over Stilligarry this morning. 9 Snow Buntings are on the Gualan. 4 Brent Geese were off Hebridean Jewellery today.
9th November: Lewis: 8 White-fronted Geese are at Loch Uraghag near Arnol and 2 Snow Buntings were nearby. A female Goosander, 7 Goldeneye, 9 Whooper Swans and 4 Barnacle Geese are at Loch Ordais. 40 Fieldfare and 2 Snow Buntings are at Lemeray.
8th November: Harris: The Pallas's Warbler was still at Govig today. 2 Blackcaps and 3 Coal Tits were in Tarbet. North Uist: A Black Redstart was seen on Baleshare. Benbecula: 6 Gadwall are on Coot Loch. South Uist: Chiffchaffs included 2 at Eochar,1 at Carnan and 1 at North Loch Eynort. Insects: A Painted Lady was at Borve Point, Benbecula today.
7th November: Harris: A Pallas's Warbler was reported from Govig, West Harris today. South Uist: A Chiffchaff is at Kinloch B&B, Grogarry and 2 Woodcock were in Druidibeg plantation. 6th November: South Uist: 2 Little Egrets are at Balgarva, at the Hebridean Jewellery turning. 5th November: North Uist: A Richardson's Canada Goose with around 1,000 Barnacle Geese on Berneray at 11:30 today. A Richard's Pipit was on the machair south-west of Balemore this afternoon along with a Jack Snipe and a Snow Bunting. 8 Snow Buntings were at Balranald and a Blackcap was at Callernish. South Uist: 2 Chiffchaffs at Eochar today. A male Blackcap is still at Loch Carnan and 2 at South Glendale today. A Woodcock was on the Howmore machair. 5 Snow Buntings were at Smerclate. 40 Whooper Swans flew south over Drimsdale at first light this morning. 450 Redwing passed through Ardivachar this morning and 280 Purple Sandpipers were seen at high tide. 28 Fieldfare were at the Loch Eynort junction.
4th November: North Uist: A Little Egret was on Loch nam Feithean and 5 Linnets were near the visitor centre at Balranald. 6 Black-tailed Godwits are still at Aird an Runair. South Uist: A male Blackcap is still at Loch Carnan. 8 Snow Buntings are on the beach at Stoneybridge and around 700 Redwing were feeding along the coast between Peninerine and Stoneybridge today. 3rd November: North Uist: A Lesser Whitethroat and Chiffchaff are at Carinish today. Benbecula: A Wheatear and White Wagtail are on airport beach, Balivanich. South Uist: A male Blackcap is still at Drimsdale. 7 Scaup are at the north end of Loch Bee. A male Blackcap is also at Loch Carnan and a Chiffchaff is at South Glendale.
2nd November: North Uist: A Woodcock, 3 Blackcaps and 7 Snow Buntings at Callernish. South Uist: A male Blackcap is at Loch Carnan and another was at Drimsdale. 1st November: Still plenty of thrushes around with good numbers of Redwing and Blackbirds but also small numbers of Fieldfare from many widely scattered locations. Lewis: A single Brambling was at Point. A Richard's Pipit was seen and heard flying towards the lighthouse (from the west) at Tiumpan Head before flying back west. 90 Tufted Duck, 5 Scaup, 1 hybrid Aythya, 3 Gadwall, 23 Whooper Swans heading south, 18 White-fronted Geese over, 35 Fieldfare and a Brambling also in the area. North Uist: A Siskin, 2 Blackcaps and a Chiffchaff at Langass, plus 29 White-fronted Geese over. A Brambling was at Carinish plus 35 White-fronted Geese flew over at 13:40. 67 White-fronted Geese flew south over Baleshare. Benbecula: 40 Long-tailed Ducks are off Stinky Bay. 2 Little Egrets are still on Loch Mor. 2 Water Rails and a male Blackcap are at Carnan. South Uist: 70 White-fronted Geese flew south at Carnan, 14:00. 120 White-fronted Geese heading south over Druidibeg at 15:10, plus 2 Woodcock there. 50 White-fronted Geese flew south over Drimsdale at 15:30. Lots of Snipe around today with 200 in the south-west corner of Loch Bee. A male Blackap is at Loch Carnan. 3 Blackcaps and 3 Brambling in South Glendale today. |
